Wedding Celebrant Hertfordshire
Looking for a wedding celebrant in Hertfordshire who'll create a ceremony that feels completely like you? You’ve found me!
I'm Zadie, a professionally trained wedding celebrant and vibrant storyteller, creating completely bespoke wedding ceremonies for fun, modern couples who want something personal, meaningful and definitely not the boring bit before the party.
I'm based just over the border in Milton Keynes and regularly work with couples getting married across Hertfordshire. From relaxed barn weddings and beautiful country houses to grand estates and some more unusual Hertfordshire wedding venues too.
With over 12 years in the wedding and events industry, plus a background in acting and storytelling, I know there's a lot more to a great ceremony than simply writing a nice script. It's about reading the room, knowing when to make people laugh and when to let a moment land, getting your guests involved and making sure the whole thing actually feels like the two of you.
That's why my ceremonies feel designed and more like a live experience than something being read at you. Think sentimental without the cringe, funny without the awkward, and completely, undeniably you. And your guests aren't just there to sit quietly and watch it all happen. They're reacting, laughing, hearing things about you they might not already know and genuinely feeling part of the moment with you. So by the time you head back down that aisle, everyone is well and truly ready to celebrate.

Hertfordshire wedding venuesI love
Hertfordshire has some absolutely gorgeous wedding venues, especially if countryside, character and beautiful outdoor space are high on your list. From converted barns and relaxed farm settings to historic country houses and seriously impressive estates, there are plenty of options without having to venture too far from London.
As a wedding celebrant working across Hertfordshire, these are just a few of my favourite venues I love creating ceremonies at:
The Farmhouse at Redcoats – Hitchin
A beautifully restored 15th-century farmhouse with a contemporary barn, loads of character and countryside all around it. It feels relaxed and rustic without being too rustic, with plenty of gorgeous spaces for your ceremony, reception and overnight stay.
Tewinbury Farm – Welwyn Garden City
A countryside venue set within the Mimram Valley, with converted barns, riverside surroundings and accommodation all in one place. There are several different wedding spaces to choose from, making it a great option whether you're planning something intimate or bringing a much bigger crowd.
Ashridge House - Berkhamsted
If you're after something with serious wow factor, this is it. A spectacular historic house surrounded by 190 acres of grounds, with grand interiors, beautiful gardens and plenty of different spaces to make your wedding your own.
The Barn at Alswick - Buntingford
A stylish contemporary barn surrounded by Hertfordshire countryside, with huge windows, loads of natural light and plenty of flexibility to make the space your own. There's even an on-site Camping Village for guests who want to stay over and keep the celebrations going.
Brocket Hall – Welwyn Garden City
If grand and impressive is more your thing, Brocket Hall brings plenty of wow factor. Set within a huge private estate, the historic house has beautiful period rooms, sweeping grounds and views across the lake, making it a brilliant option for an elegant country house wedding that still feels tucked away from everything.
What your ceremony could look like
Every ceremony I create is built from scratch around you - your story, your personalities, your energy. No templates, no scripts pulled off a shelf, and definitely not the boring bit before the party.
Your bespoke Hertfordshire wedding ceremony might include personal vows, heartfelt and humorous storytelling, readings or songs that mean something to you, symbolic moments (modern, not cringe), fun or surprising elements, music that feels like you, guest involvement (if that's your vibe), and traditions modernised (or none at all).
The goal is simple: a ceremony experience that feels intentional, emotional, fun, and unmistakably you.
and with the ceremonies by zadie experience, you’ll also get:
A celebrant who feels like a friend from the start, not a stranger reading from a clipboard
A creative, fun-filled planning journey that gets the ideas flowing and includes guidance when you have decisions to make
A ceremony woven with storytelling, humour, and genuine emotional depth
Someone who feels the room, lifts the energy, and brings your guests into the moment
A delivery that's warm, electric, and completely in tune with you.
Your ceremony becomes more than a moment.
It becomes an experience your guests will feel part of, remember, and talk about long after the day itself.
Client Love
"Zadie was always super friendly and helpful. She made sure to spend enough time with us before the ceremony to make sure she got our story right. Zadie made sure we were comfortable and calm, AND made great effort to socialise with our guests"

Things for Wedding Guests to Do in Hertfordshire
If your guests are making a weekend of it, there’s plenty to keep them busy in Hertfordshire before (or after!) the main event:
For the explorers: There are some brilliant places to explore, including Hatfield Park, the beautiful Lee Valley Regional Park or the Chiltern countryside around Berkhamsted and Tring. You could easily spend a few hours wandering around Hitchin, Berkhamsted or St Albans too. Think independent shops, coffee stops and pretty streets along the way. Or, for something a little slower, pick one of Hertfordshire's many countryside walks and pretty villages and just see where you end up.
For the foodies: Hertfordshire has a seriously good food scene, from cosy country pubs and independent restaurants to fine dining. St Albans and Hitchin are both great places to start, with plenty of independent places to eat and drink, or head out into the countryside for a long pub lunch.
For the history lovers: St Albans Cathedral and the remains of Roman Verulamium make St Albans an easy place to lose a few hours, while Knebworth House gives you historic house, gardens and parkland all in one. Fun fact, Knebworth is also another Hertfordshire wedding venue if you’re still gathering ideas!
For those recovering from the night before: Keep it simple. Find a good country pub, order a Sunday roast and collectively piece together what happened on the dance floor the night before. If everyone's feeling surprisingly energetic, a countryside walk afterwards might even make you all feel vaguely human again.

Is this right for you
This experience is designed for couples who want something more than a standard scripted ceremony. If you’re looking for a start to your wedding day that reflects your personalities, brings your guests into your story, and sets the tone for an unforgettable celebration, we may be the perfect match.
If you’re looking for a formal, traditional ceremony with little to no personal input, I’m probably not the right celebrant for you - and that’s completely okay!
